On Friday & Saturday, October 21st and 22nd, 2022,
Over 70 Volunteers Helped Plant Over 1,240
Shrub Seedlings
On the Sagebrush Steppe
Restoration Project Site Just South & West of the Refuge Visitor Center.
This was the Fifth Planting Season.
Prior to planting, refuge staff used their Skid-Steer to pre-auger (6” diameter) the planting holes. This was a great boon to our planting effort; although we still hand-dug about 180 holes.
November—Five study transects were flagged to monitor success of the plantings. About 70 pounds of the Friends’ bunchgrass seed mix was mechanically seeded among the newly planted shrubs .
